Even the cute bracelets we gifted with the kit came in their own little plastic bags. Not cool for the planet, not sustainable, and not ethical. We knew we needed to change this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eve in MUTU Customer Support decided enough was enough. And so began a 12-month mission to eliminate all plastic from our kit. Not an easy task when you consider that every item that leaves a factory must be wrapped and identified. It needs to be barcoded and scanned. It needs to be tracked and accounted for. You can\u2019t just ask for stuff \u2018without the bag\u2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eve was undeterred. Every email that told her <strong>\u2018it can\u2019t be done\u2019<\/strong> was met with <strong>\u2018Yes it can. You\u2019re just not trying hard enough\u2019.<\/strong> She researched and sourced sustainable packaging, she contacted other companies about their solutions, she set about with brown paper and scissors, cutting and taping and taking pictures on her phone. <strong>\u2018How about this? This would work. Please try it\u2019.<\/strong> She did this with every individual item in the kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After months of work (and because Eve just wasn\u2019t going to go away) slowly the factories started to say <strong>\u2018yes, we\u2019ll try it\u2019.<\/strong> The bracelets were a cute gift but they didn\u2019t add real value for the customer and simply couldn\u2019t be shipped without plastic. So they had to go. Eve proposed we divert the cost of bracelet production, to contribute to sustainable packing for the other items. It\u2019s worth noting, that going plastic-free in today\u2019s world, is never the cheapest option for a business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The MUTU Kitbox is now plastic packaging-free!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every single item now has a cardboard sleeve with all the required information on it. Even the plastic straw to inflate the little ball has been replaced with a sturdy cardboard one.
