We’re overrun  with healthy eating information EVERYWHERE. Eat ‘cleaner’, eat healthier, eat smarter, eat organic… The list goes on and on.  It’s too much and no wonder we sometimes think, to hell with this, pass the chocolate!

When we stop eating processed food – we feel less sluggish, less bloated and likely have way more energy, which is a bonus for the sleep deprived mamas. Cut the processed foods and you’ll see your sugar intake plumet! Win, win.

Unprocessed foods = Food as close to its natural source as possible. If the ingredients list is full of confusing works you can’t pronounce, put it back on the shelf. Use fresh ingredients so you know what’s going into your family’s meal.

When we eat more green vegetables – We know vegetables are good for us. Our mothers told us to eat our greens and no doubt our mother’s mother told her to do the same! Green veggies in particular give your body the essential vitamins and minerals you need to aid healing. This is especially important for a mom. Studies have also proven that green veg helps improve skin so you’ll get that glow back in no time after having rocked the ‘not slept in days’ look for long enough!

Green Vegetables = Spinach, kale, broccoli, brussel sprouts etc.

When we eat more healing foods – If you’ve had a baby your body is likely to be or at some point have had to go through a healing process. This can slow up and grind to a halt if we aren’t giving our bodies the right food to aid the healing process. If you have a scar from a cesarean or you have a Diastasis Recti, what you eat is going to be a key player in helping your body repair. You have the power to support this healing and speed up the process.

Healing foods = Broccoli, spinach, cabbage, fruits such as kiwi, blueberries, cherries, bananas, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, almonds, protein rich organic chicken, eggs, oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines.

When we eat more food containing collagen –  You’ve probably heard me talk about bone broth because I love the stuff! Not only is it a great way to get the most out of a meal, it also contains wonderful collagen and good nutrients and minerals. Collagen is the stuff that helps bind together the front of your abs so rebuilding it is seriously important if you have DR.

Foods containing collagen = Bone broth. Foods that help with collagen production = Carrots, flaxseeds, walnuts, red fruits and vegetables , fish and grass fed organic meat.

When we cut out sugar – Sugar and sweeteners are in pretty much all processed foods. The more sugar we eat, the more insulin is released in our body. Too much insulin means your body becomes a pro at storing fat. Moral of the story, refined sugar is the enemy!
